The millionth post has already come and gone - it's just that certain posts have been deleted thus reducing the actual count.

For example, the link given to me,

means we're already at the 1,001,749th post.

What else matters than what the counter of the site displays, really?
I know it's only a figure, but it's got that roundness, weight and symbolic side that you can't deny.

It's like when you hit your first one million kilometers (or miles, which is 1.6 x more) driving in total. I remember talking with an old man in Jura who told me he had driven over 2 million km in his life, which represents 50 circles round the earth (on the equator).

1,000,000 posts here, since the Jan. 2004 restart I presume, that is since more or less 970 days, which is a little more than 1,000 posts a day in average!
So the millionth post on the counter - :p Steve - will probably come by next Saturday or Sunday.

A deleted post is not a post until the third trimester. If it is not viable outside of the computer, it cannot really be considered a post.

I am also a strong advocate of the morning-after delete button.

I agree! Just like the morning-after pill... It would be good to know you can erase your bullshit from the day before.
