Eyada.Com
Interview
|
The
Chaunce
Hayden Show on Eyada.Com hosted what they referred
to as a "New David Lee Roth Interview" on
Saturday night. The interview was reported by
staff members as being 2 weeks old. Several
inconsistencies in the interview lead us to believe that
it is from late 97. Some of the inconsistencies in the
broadcast were that DLR was reported to be 43 years old
(Dave is 45), and he referred to Ed Anderson as his
manager. Dave was really interested in promoting his book
in this clip. The interview will be archived on the
Eyada.Com site for the next 7 days. |Audio

Neil
Zlozower Exclusive
|
| Behind
the camera, behind the music |
HOLLYWOOD,
Calif. - In the rock n' roll business for more than 30 years,
photographer Neil Zlozower has watched more than his fair
share of rising stars from behind the camera.
Beginning his career as a glorified
fan, Zlozower has gone on to become one of the most
sought-after photographers in the biz.
He operates by a simple rule -
shoot the bands you dig. In 1978, he was digging Van Halen.
Zloz became close friends with the Van Halen gang and
still considers them "like family."
Having spent time with the likes of
Motley Crue, Ratt and Poison, "Zloz" got to know
the behind-the-music business of rock long before VH1
decided to explore it.
Zloz took a few minutes out of his busy
day to sit down with the DLR Army and talk shop. From the
Sammy years to Van Halen's early days on the Sunset Strip,
Zloz pulls no punches.
DLR
ARMY:
Do you remember the first time you heard Van Halen?
ZLOZ:
"I
was working with some other photographers, I was in the
office one day in 1978 and I heard (mimicking the intro to
"Runnin' With the Devil") 'neaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar...
bomp, bomp, bomp' and I was like 'What the fuck is this?
This is fuckin' bad ass!'"
"That first VH album just blew me
away. That's fuckin' rock n' roll history as far as I'm
concerned."
DLR
ARMY:
You've watched a lot of great performers up close; Elton
John, Mick Jagger, Jimi Hendrix. What is it about Dave
that made an impression on you?
ZLOZ:
"Dave is probably one of the best showmen ever in the
history of rock music. Yeah, Mick Jagger is a showman, but
Dave knew how to stroke that audience, man. He knew what
they wanted and he knew how to get them going. He was
fuckin' amazing, he was the ultimate rock star."

| FAN
ERUPTION! |
| An
update on the "Bring Back Van Halen" Crusade |
The DLR Army has received a massive response from you the people
regarding our Bring Back Classic Van Halen campaign! Thank
you for making your opinions public.
Since we began the reunion effort on
March 27, 2000 we've received 900 signatures, with
many more on the way.
Wow.
It's not likely that we will change
anyone's minds, unless they have an open mind to start
with. The bottom line here is, rather than vent your
feelings on message boards or mailing lists, fans now have
a place to share their feelings regarding the much rumored
reunion that may or may not be taking place this year.
Those thoughts and feelings will then
be forwarded to David Lee Roth's camp, Van Halen's camp
and Warner Brothers.
This way, you can have a say. This way,
you can make sure that your opinion is heard. This way, at
least all of us can stand united.
A few tips in case you haven't signed
up yet;
Only sign-up once. Putting your name or message on there
several times only takes away from the validity of this
effort. If you want to see what others are writing,
revisit the site, but don't add your name again.
Tell 10 of your friends to visit the site and
add their names or messages. Then have each of them tell
10 of their friends. Tell your local radio stations, cable
stations, local bands, local bars, make flyers to hang in
your local record stores.
We ask that anyone who chooses to leave a message
does so in a positive manner. Insulting one or more of the
band members in Van Halen also takes away from the
validity of the effort.
If you want to bitch about the guys,
email the webmasters, visit the message board or sign up
to one of the mailing lists. You don't get people to make
peace with each other by calling them names. If we want
the Van Halens to play nice, we must
be prepared to play nice. |
